 International Day of Yoga

June 21 was declared as the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014.[1] Yoga, a 6,000+-year-old physical, mental and spiritual practice having its origin in Bharat India, aims to transformbody and mind. The declaration came after the call for the adoption of 21 June as International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime MinisterNarendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014[2][3][4][5] wherein he stated:
"Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us deal with climate change. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day."[6]
Narendra Modi further stated that "Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well being." [7] In suggesting June 21, which is theSummer Solstice, as the International Day of Yoga, Narendra Modi had said that the date is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world.[8]
From the perspective of yoga, the Summer Solstice marks the transition to Dakshinayana. The first full moon after Summer Solstice is known as Guru Poornima. According to Jaggi Vasudev, in the yogic lore, the first transmission of yoga by Shiva, the first Guru, is said to have begun on this day.[9] Dakshinayana is also considered a time when there is natural support for those pursuing spiritual practices.[10]

Bharat Ratna to Atal ji….

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and founder member of Bharatiya Janta Party was conferred Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award  yesterday

Atal Behari Vajpayee was born on 25th December, 1924 (according to his certificate it is 1926) at Shinde Cantt in Madhya Pradesh. Shri Vajpayee is the beloved son of Shri Krishan Behari Bajpayee and Smt. Krishna Devi. While he was just a student, he aligned himself to the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh (R.S.S.) and later become its “Pracharak”. He is the founder member of the ‘Jansangh” then political party founded by R.S.S. After entering the politics of the country, he climbed up step by step and now he is the spotless meticulous statesman of the Indian politics.
He is the first Prime Minister of India who is regard as non-controversial heart-throb of the country. He is held in high esteem not only by his party men but also by other members of the Indian polity. Even the ex-Prime Ministers of India- Shri Shivraj Patil (the ex-Lok Sabha Speaker) and Shri Ram Vilas Paswan (Dalit Leader) have felt charmed by his speeches. From the political standpoint, even the stalwarts of other rivals factions have been full of commendations for him.
Undoubtedly, Shri Vajpayee is a great orator. He stands out to be a distinguished man in respect of his choice of words, effective pauses in between, sweet touch of sarcasm and humour, the style of speaking and above all, the quality of judging the moods of his listeners.
Though Shri Vajpayee is a staunch and devout Hinduan epitome of Hindu tradition- yet the people of minority communities repose their unassailable confidence in him. He belongs to all and all belong to him.
He is a lover of Hindi languages but it doesn’t mean that he is averse to other languages. He is a versatile and dynamic personality. He is a writer, a journalist and an instant composer, in verses. He has been a seasoned Parliamentarian for the past forty years.
Shri Vajpayee is the first figure, who addresses the U.N.O. in Hindi on 4th October, 1977. He was adorned with “Padma Vibhushan” by the Indian Govt. on 25th January, 1992. This was followed by another honor bestowed upon him by the U.P. Hindi Sansthan on 28th September, 1992. And then on 16th August, 1994 “Govinnd Vallabh Pant Award” was conferred upon him for his being the Best Parliamentarian and finally the prestigious Bharat ratna award was given to him on 27  th march,2015. He has been credited with taking bold initiatives, notable among them being the historic bus journey to Lahore in 1999 when he signed the landmark Lahore Declaration with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with both sides pledging to push for peace and security.

Once he said on his birthday, “Every year, on 25th December, I scale a new round of life. On this turning point of my life, I wrestle with myself more than with others.” The following words of his go to prove that he is a true humanitarian and a very sensitive soul:
“O Lord! Never lift me up to such a mighty height as to make me forget to embrace my fellow-beings”.

Welcome to RSS - Prabhat Shaka, Nehru Nagar - Chromepet

Shaka !!!
Expressed in the simplest terms, the ideal of the Sangh is to carry the nation to the pinnacle of glory, through organising the entire society and ensuring protection of Hindu Dharma.

Having identified this goal, the Sangh created a method of work in consonance with that ideal. Decades of functioning has confirmed that this is the most effective way of organising the society.

The Sangh's method of working is of the simplest kind, and there is hardly anything esoteric about it. Coming together every day for an hour is the heart of the technique, and the Sangh has always grown only by personal contact. This is a self-contained mechanism; hence its success.

The daily Shakha is undoubtedly the most visible symbol of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The Shakha is as simple in its structure as it is grand in conception. No better example can be given to prove the truth of the adage that it takes a genius to simplify a mechanical tool, while even a third-rate engineer can complicate a simple mechanism! After nearly seven decades since the inception of the Sangh, people continue to express puzzlement as to how such a simple tool as the daily Shakha can produce idealists and patriots of such sterling worth, willing to dedicate all their energies and talents to the cause of the Motherland, willing even to shed their lives if need be to protect the honour of the Motherland. Herein lies the extraordinary vision, skill and foresight of Dr. Hedgewar, the founder of the Sangh.
